Katherine McCoy

Katherine McCoy co-chaired the Cranbrook Academy of Art’s Design Department for 24 years, and was a Senior Lecturer at Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute of Design in Chicago and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Art in London. As a partner of McCoy & McCoy Associates, projects include communications and signage design, design marketing, exhibition and interior design. Clients have included Tobu Stores Tokyo, the Chicago Bears, and Detroit Institute of Arts. Recently she has focused on design curriculum, consulting for institutions including Kansas City Art Institute, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and American University of Beirut. With her husband Michael, she collaborates on High Ground professional education programs. Katherine is a Medallist of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. She holds an Honorary Doctorate from Kansas City Art Institute. Awards include the Industrial Designers Society of America Education Award, the Society of Typographic Arts Educator Award, and the first Design Minds Award of the Smithsonian Museum’s National Design Awards. Her graphic design work and design writings have been published worldwide.

Katherine will be visiting both NY and Paris campuses.
